Biography

Dr. Brandon J. Foster's career in education has been defined by a single conviction: that the most important variable in any school system is the quality of its leadership. That conviction has taken him from the classroom to the principal's office, from district leadership to the Harvard Graduate School of Education — and now to the front lines of one of the most consequential challenges in the history of public schooling: the arrival of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Foster began his career as an educator, developing the deep understanding of classroom practice and student learning that would later anchor his leadership work. As a school principal, he led a campus through significant instructional improvement, building a culture grounded in high expectations, data-informed decision-making, and genuine care for every student. That experience — of leading a school through change, navigating competing pressures, and keeping students at the center — remains the foundation of everything he does.

Moving into district leadership, Dr. Foster worked alongside superintendents and cabinet teams on the complex work of systems change: aligning strategy to resources, building leadership pipelines, and creating the conditions for instructional improvement at scale. It was in this work that he first began to grapple seriously with the question of technology — not as a tool to be deployed, but as a leadership challenge to be navigated.

That question led him to Harvard. In the Ed.L.D. program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education — one of the most selective doctoral programs in education leadership in the world — Dr. Foster deepened his understanding of leadership, governance, equity, and organizational change. His doctoral work focused on the intersection of technology, governance, and equity in public school systems, laying the intellectual foundation for what would become the Foster Brilliance AI Leadership Framework™.

Today, Dr. Foster serves as a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, teaching and advising the next generation of education leaders. He works with school systems across the country as a keynote speaker, strategic advisor, and workshop facilitator — helping superintendents, school boards, and district leadership teams build the governance structures, leadership capacity, and strategic clarity they need to lead AI adoption responsibly and effectively.

His forthcoming book will bring the Foster Brilliance AI Leadership Framework™ to a national audience — offering education leaders a practical, principled guide to leading in the age of artificial intelligence.
